WoW what a fabulous time was had!

Here's a picture of the group leaving Deep Cove to catch the boat to go to Camp Jubilee. Everyone was ready to go and excited to see people they hadn't see for a year. We all reconnected right away and made some new friends to boot. Thanks to Dunja for all her time and effort to make this event a sucess. Thank-you Kazuko for submitting this photo.

Diana Crick's Explosion Box class information

I am so looking forward to this class, I hope you are too!
There are a couple of extra things I am hoping you can bring with you for the class:
  • Scotch tape, important!
  • A Fiskar's paper trimmer with the clear plastic guard and the orange blade - if you do not have one of these, not too worry. I will bring two. This type of cutter makes things a lot easier.
  • Glue dots
  • Pencil
  • Scissors for cutting ribbon and paper
  • I will be supplying each of you with a 36 yard roll of double sided tape
See you Friday, only 2 more sleeps.

PS I will also have with me the prototype of Scor-Pal.
Pictures can be added later

Hello Cardmakers and Scrapbookers attending the retreat!

Well, only three more sleeps until the retreat! I hope you are all looking forward to our second annual retreat as much as I am!!!

I just wanted to send some last minute reminders about our upcoming retreat:

1. Remember to bring bedding (sleeping bag, pillow and sheet if you want)
2. Slippers are great, since we have to take our shoes off at the hall where we will be scrapbooking.
3. All our meals will be included, but you are encouraged to bring some snacks for late night scrapbooking, or just to munch on throughout the day.
4. If you are taking a workshop, you will have to supply your own adhesive for the project (I would recommend bringing glue sticks, photo squares, and or liquid fast dry adhesive, snail adhesive, if you want- basically your favourite adhesive).
5. The boat leaves Deep Cove at 6:00p.m. Give yourself plenty of time to drive through rush-hour traffic to Deep Cove, and get there about 30 minutes before the boat leaves. You can drive your car down to the top of the dock ramp, and unload your stuff ( about three cars will fit there at one time). Try not to bring everything- we have to fit 27 people and all our supplies into the same boat as last year!)
6. You will have to find parking in Deep Cove. The camp recommends finding a residential side street, since the park parking lot does not allow overnight parking. So you will have to unload your stuff, and park your cars. Don't worry- there will be 27 of us, and we will have lots of hands to help 'shlepp' the stuff down the ramp! Let's hope the tide is high!!!
7. Try to eat before you come- we will not have dinner at the retreat Friday night, we will have a warm snack around 9:00 p.m.
8. If you want to bring some music cd's you can- we will have access to a radio throughout the day, and we'll plug in some chick flicks to keep us company during the night.

Here are the directions to the Government Dock:
Camp Jubilee Retreat & Conference Centre is a short 30 minute boat ride from the government dock in
Deep Cove (North Vancouver, BC).
To get there:
Go North over the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge
Take the 1st exit Eastbound onto Dollarton Highway
Continue East until Dollarton Highway becomes Deep Cove Road
Finally Deep Cove Road will become Gallant Ave.
The Government Dock is located between
Deep Cove Canoe & Kayak and Panorama Park. Day Parking is available at Panorama Park. Overnight parking is on residential side streets.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! Until then! Happy Packing and see you all on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's approaching fast!

Camp Crop a Lot is just around the corner and I want to give you a heads up of what items to bring for your photo blocks we'll be c
reating if you signed up for this class. You will need to bring some black and white photos which can be cropped. In total you'll be placing 4 photos on your project and have the top for journalling. The base will have feet to protect it. You can decide on the theme of your block as each one will be unique to your creativity. This project uses LOTS of adhesive so please bring your own with you. I will have dimmensionals and sticky strip adhesive for the embellishments... They're going to look amazing!

If you have any questions, contact me or I'll look forward to seeing you real soon!!

Another message from Dunja....

Isn't she beautiful!
Here's what she has to say:
I am the organizer of Camp Crop-a-Lot scrapbooking retreat. It was such a success last year, the ladies begged me to organize again (twist my rubber arm!!).I wanted to organize a retreat that would be affordable for stay home moms to go to, so last year, I found out about this great Camp on the Indian Arm. I booked the event, and we had about 20 ladies registered. I knew about 6 of them!!!! It was lots of fun!
We stayed in heated cabins, with bunk beds (we brought our own bedding) and each cabin has a washroom (toilet and sink). Rustic, but comfortable! We scrapbooked in a hall, about 2 people per table. We had a tv, so we watched 'chick-flicks' in the early hours of the night, and listened to music during the day. When we arrived, almost everyone got into their pyjamas and started scrapbooking! The retreat has a snack for us on Friday night. Everyone stayed up as late/early as they wanted. It was so much fun! The cook was fabulous!
There were three workshops to choose from, which were being held in the cafeteria. This year, I've organized the event again! It is being held from March 30- April 1st! There are 24 ladies registered already, and I would love to have 30! Please let me know if you are interested in coming! We have four fabulous workshops available, if you are interested (explosion box, photo cube, mini chipboard album- outdoor theme and an altered lunch box). The workshops are only $10-15 each, so extremely reasonable! ALso, everyone will get a prize!I hope some of you will consider coming. The fact that everyone from last year is coming again, says a lot about how much they enjoyed it!

Message from Dunja the organizer of Camp Crop-A-Lot

The retreat is less than a month away! I am really excited about seeing everyone again, and having a fabulous time scrapbooking, stamping, talking, laughing, eating, relaxing, having someone else do the cooking ...
Here is an update on the registrations:
To date, 24 people have signed up for the retreat! I am thrilled to announce that everyone from last year, is coming again!!!!!!! and a few more. Wow!
Ultimately, I would love to have 30 people signed up for the camp. That means, 6 more have to register! Please encourage anyone else that you know, who would love to get away for the weekend to craft with us, to register! They can just e-mail me, and I can send them a registration package!
We will only have one boat picking us up in Deep Cove. It is arriving at 6:00pm. So, we all need to be at the dock about half an hour prior to that time (it takes a while to unload our stuff, and haul it to the dock, and find a parking spot in Deep Cove). If you can, carpool with someone, that makes things easier. Also, since we are coming to Deep Cove on Friday early evening, you will probably all drive through rush hour traffic to get there. Make sure you give yourselves enough time to get there. It is really easy to find. I will e-mail you directions for getting to Deep Cove and the government docks, the week of the retreat.
I hope you are all looking forward to this as much as I am- I've been having fun buying some really nice prizes to give away!!! (Did I mention that everyone will get a prize)
Check out these views of the great outdoors right by the camp and one of the camp from the water.

More photos from the boat...

Stamping and Srapbooking Fun for Lower Mainland Vancouver Residents

Here's a few photos taken from the Camp Crop-A-Lot 2006. We had a lot of stuff on the boat with us. Lotsa ladies brought copious amounts of supplies and very few personal effects. The boat didn't sink either. Our stuff was piled on one side and we all sat in a semi circle on the other. I think it is a water taxi. It was open but we were covered. The views were spectacular and the driver gave us a play by play of what we were passing and a bit of historical information about the area and even some celebrity sitings that had occured. He was also such a gentleman, helping us in and out and unloading our gear which we did have to carry up the dock. We all pitched in and helped each other. Some of us had to make more than one trip and I am sure the staff wondered why we looked like we were packed for a month instead of just the weekend. I don't think they will all fit on one post so check the next one too please.
